AngiePen. My real name is Angie, and I'm a writer, so.... Nothing terribly profound.
2. Have you renamed before? If so, what were your old names? If you haven't renamed, what names would you want to rename to?
This journal has always been AngiePen and always will be. I've never wanted to change to anything else.
3. How much does your user info say about you?
Quite a lot, although it tends to be related to writing, except for the little fill-in stuff like where you live and what schools you go to and such. Although since we're on the subject, I want to take this time to mention that DeAnza College is in Cupertino, NOT San Jose. :P
4. How long have you been on LiveJournal?
Ummm, since February of '04, so about 4.5 years.
5. What is the longest amount of time you've gone without posting?
Months. A couple of times I've gotten sucked into an RPG and they're major time-sinks. I'm pretty much done with that, though, so now when I'm away from reading for a while it's usually just a few weeks max, and more often just a few days. But once you've been gone for a while, things pile up and it takes a larger block of free time to catch up, so you wait to have that time and need more and so-- Ack! LOL! I'll always go all the way back to where I left off, though, or as far back as it'll let me, just 'cause I'm obsessive like that.
6. On average, how many entries do you post per day?
Per day?! Another ACK! :P I don't post every day. Sometimes I don't post every week. I post when I have something significant to post (or when a friend has persuaded me to do a question meme [tickles illuminated_sin) and don't try to stick to any particular schedule just for the sake of posting.
7. What are your posts normally about?
Usually it's either fic or something about writing, or a link to something I thought was either funny or infuriating. Sometimes I post trip reports when I'm travelling, but not very often.
8. Is your LiveJournal friends only? Why or why not?
Nope. I want more people reading me, not fewer, LOL! I've never Flocked anything, either.
9. Does your LiveJournal have an actual title, or are you merely User@LiveJournal?
"The Write Place" :D
10. How long do you see yourself staying on LiveJournal?
So long as there are people here I want to hang out with.
ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS LIST
11. How many people are on your friends list, not counting private journals, media journals, etc?
I have 152 personal journals friended, although I don't take off deleted journals (I like to look at them and think, "Wow, I remember that person!") so it's actually 140 still-existent journals.
12. Why do you choose to add a person to your friends list?
One question -- do I want to read what's in this journal regularly? That's it. If so, then I friend it. If not, then I don't.
13. Is your friends list an actual list of people you consider friends, or more of a reading list?
My Flist is a list of bookmarks, period. It's a collection of journals I want to read regularly and nothing more. I'm one of those folks who thinks the whole "Friends" nomenclature is extremely unfortunate; it causes a lot of unnecessary drama. There are actual friends on my FList, one or two I know in real life, and a few more I've met once or twice in realspace. There are also people I don't particularly like, but whose journals I like to read. I've said more than once that I'd "friend" my worst enemy if she posted fics I want to read. I have no emotional attachment to the "friending" process.
14. How often do you read your friends list?
I try for at least once or twice a day.
15. Do you use filters when viewing your friends list?
Not usually. I have a bunch of communities filtered off for a variety of reasons, and I have a "NaNo" filter I used back in November '06, with only NaNo-specific journals on it, but in general, if your journal is on my Flist, it's always on my reading list. Which isn't to say I always click through, but I at least scan over the part above the cut.
16. How much do you talk to people on your friends list off of LiveJournal?
Mostly I don't. There are a couple of people I talk to off LJ a few times a week, and a handful of others I e-mail with periodically, but for the most part it's just hanging out on LJ.
17. Do you do friends cuts? Why or why not?
I never have, although I've been telling myself I should for at least a year now. :/ I'm running on the ragged edge of impossibility and really need to trim some journals that have drifted away from the subject matter I originally added them for, and one or two which started out posting once or twice a week and are now up to the multiple-times-per-day level. I haven't so far, though, because cutting tends to cause drama and I'd rather avoid that. It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to gird my loins and weild the axe, though, and fairly soon. O_O In general I try to be very choosy about whom I add, so I don't have to do regular cuts. I rarely add someone who posts multiple times per day, or even daily, no matter how interesting they are, because I just don't have any more time to read. Someone who posts really interesting stuff once a week is just about perfect. :D
18. Do you regularly participate in friending memes? If not, how do you normally find people to friend?
Never have. I'm not actively looking for more friends -- see answer to #17 -- and don't think it's terribly polite to join a friending meme just so people can add me. :P
19. How often do you add new friends to your friends list?
As rarely as I can manage, LOL!
20. Do your friends have things in common with you?
They might or might not. Again, it's just a matter of my wanting to read their posts. If they friend me, I assume it's because they want to read my posts. We might have quite a lot in common, or a little, or hardly anything.
ABOUT YOUR ICONS/USER PICS
21. How many userpics do you get maximum? How many of those slots do you actually use?
I have 144 slots, 135 of which are filled. I'm not really into icons per se, but as my interests expand, I tend to grab new icons. And sometimes I'll see something I really love and beg to gack it. :) I have some I could get rid of, like my Palace icons, but I keep them for nostalgia's sake; Palace was one of the best times I've ever had online, before it faded away. And I could probably get rid of some of my portrait icons; I have favorites, and some others I hardly use. I'm not worrying about it until I fill up, though.
22. Do you mostly use icons made by yourself or by others?
Depends. If I see one I really love, I'll grab it. If I want an icon of someone, though, I'll Google a pic and make it myself. I don't like fussy icons, and some of the popular techniques (particularly with text) I actively dislike. My favorite kind of character icon is Photo -> Crop -> Resize -> Sharpen -> Icon. :) Although I do like the Archer icons Raven made, with lines from the story. :D But there are others, like my animated NaNo icon, which totally rocks and I could never have made that for myself.
23. Do you have your own icon community? How often do you post in it?
24. What fandoms are most frequently seen in your user pics?
Depends what I'm commenting on. Usually it's RPS (and most of that is the Rings guys), with some Stargate (both flavors), Blood Ties, Dresden Files (less of those two, since they were cancelled and were never terribly active), a little Harry Potter, some Queer as Folk, plus a few others I use very occasionally. Then I have a bunch of non-fandom icons as well.
25. How do you find icons to use?
I'll see something I like and ask if it's gackable, or make one for myself if I find a pic I like a lot.
26. How often do you upload new icons in your user pics?
No particular schedule -- just whenever I get a new icon.
27. Which of your user pics do you use the most?
Probably my default -- the adult Obie-dog pic -- and the Library icon. Huggy-Craig, Smiling Orlando, and Facepalm Orlando get a lot of use too. :)
28. Which of your user pics do you LIKE the most?
Aww, man. I hate "favorite" questions. :/ I like different things for different reasons. I love my Obie-icon 'cause Oberon was the bestest dog in the universe, and he died too young of cancer. :( I love my black-and-white Liam icon 'cause he's just sex on legs and that's my very favorite pic of him. The "Like trying to wrestle jello" Archer!Orlando icon rocks, 'cause I loved his character in that story, and that was a perfect descriptor for him. :D The Nazgulls icon is just a crack-up, and the broken-picture icon with the little smiley guy poking the [X] with a stick is cute and gets a lot of LOL! comments for some reason. [grin] I love the Brian/Justin twirly-kiss animated icon, 'cause it's hot and romantic both. Also the Jack/Ianto icon, with them sleeping all tangled up -- massive "Awww!" and also "Mmmmm." [grin]
29. The old maximum number of userpics was three. Could you see yourself surviving on three user pics now?
Heh. Thinking back, I actually did fine with three at the time. In fact, I don't think I ever filled that third slot until after I had more. Now, though, it'd suck massively. My pro-writing journal only has the basic six slots and it's driving me nuts. :/
30. What do your user pics say about you?
Ummm...? [ponder] I don't know. I like hot guys, tend to get active in a few causes, and have a bent for sarcastic humor. Nothing terribly profound.
